GEORGE & DAVIS’
George & Davis’ is located on Little Clarendon Street.
The oldest of our three shops, George and Davis’ was opened in 1992 on Little Clarendon Street. It quickly became, and remains today, a staple of the Jericho community. The shop’s location makes it a popular venue for post-theatre ice cream and for those who fancy an after-dinner treat, making it a buzzing night-time hub. George and Davis’ has a stall at the Jericho Street Fair every year and also has a strong relationship with St. Barnabas’ Primary School, with the G&D’s cow being spotted at several school events and students’ artwork being displayed on the shop walls over the springtime holiday. The annual Easter Egg Hunt was recently revived at this shop, seeing local residents and students searching the area for G&D’s eggs and prizes which were hidden everywhere from bushes to lampposts. Tradition continues inside the shop doors, too: Oxford’s Out of the Blue held their first concert here and come back to sing every year, packing the parlour full of their fans, who spill out onto the street.
Ice cream has always been made on-site in the production room, and as G&D’s has expanded, ice cream is cycled to the other two shops. While tours of the production room have happened in the past for a very select few, George and Davis’ is hoping to open its production doors to more guests in the future, who might even be lucky enough to take part in the ice cream making process.
